Over 300 people attended a Red Earth Estate wine tasting event and Photographic Exhibition of the "Animals on Bikes" sculptures at the Cumnock Royal Hotel on Saturday 28th November 2009.
CONGRATULATIONS to the 45 sculptures and letterboxes that were entered - they were exceptional high standard and a very challeging task for the Bathurst judges, Marje Prior and Kaye Stapleton.The FIRST prize winners received $1,000 and SECOND winners received $200. The winners are;
BEST AUSTRALIAN ANIMAL ON A BIKE First = “Packham” by John Packham and Stuart Caldwell Second = “Lizzy” by Graeme Fleming and Mal Williams (pictured above right) (also won the People’s Choice Award a $250 voucher from Dubbo Brennans Mitre 10)
BEST FOREIGN ANIMAL ON A BIKE First = “Zip along Zebra – the waters getting cold!” by Hiller family – Jacquie, Jess, Lachie and Ben Second = “Rex rider” by Neville Smith
BEST SCULPTURE MADE BY A GROUP First = “Fast animals on Bikes” by Wellington Men’s Shed Second = “Spotty the caterpillar” by Cumnock Village Preschool
BEST SCULPTURE MADE BY FARMER/FARMER WIFE First = “Yullundry Roo” by Robert Armstrong (pictured above middle) Second = “Ezyrider” by Don Bruce
BEST LETTERBOX DESIGN First = “Hog on a Chopper” by Mick Bates (pictured above left) (located outside the Cumnock Police station) Highly Commended = “Uncontrollable Ram” by Peter Medcalf (this is a temporary fixture as it is remote controlled!)
